Purpose: This study aims to identify household waste generation and composition in Pemecutan Kaja Village, Denpasar, and to analyze the influence of knowledge, awareness, and facility access on community waste-sorting behavior.
Research methods: Data were collected using SNI 19-3964-1994 waste sampling with a 100-kg hanging scale and a social survey questionnaire of 148 respondents. Data analysis employed SPSS v.26 using multiple linear regression to evaluate relationships among variables.
Findings: Average household waste generation was 1.192 kg/day, dominated by organic (41%), ritual (25%), and plastic waste (12%). Regression analysis indicated that knowledge, awareness, and facility access significantly affected sorting behavior (R² = 0.617), with awareness as the strongest determinant.
Implication: Integrating Tri Hita Karana cultural values with technical waste management enhances community-based waste handling effectiveness and supports cultural and environmental harmony.
